Countless netizens were enraged when a video of a disabled dog being dumped went online. The scene was recorded by a surveillance camera and was released to the public when authorities started their investigation. The video quickly became viral and it put a spotlight on responsible dog ownership.
Heartbreaking
The footage started with a woman driving a white car stopping in a street in Sao Leopoldo in Port Alegre. She didn’t even bother to park on the curb, she simply went out then opened the rear door.
A black dog came out first. The lady then reached into the back seat and pulled a white dog by the scruff of his neck. She dumps the dog away from her car then tells the other dog to get back in.
The woman then closes the rear door and hops into the driver’s seat. The white dog, which has a deformed front leg with the other missing, tried to follow his owner. But the woman, determined to leave the dog behind, shouts at him.
She tells the dog to move away, pointing to the sidewalk. When the dog won’t go away, she pushes him aside. It was a forceful shove that caused the poor pup to slam his face down in the paved street hard.
The woman then sped away. The pooch, named Tintin, tried to chase the car.
Dumped twice
As it turned out, the disabled pooch was left in the street outside the office of the woman’s husband. When the man saw the dog, he took him to his car then brought him to the Secretariat of Animal Protection (Sempa). He said he found the dog and didn’t know who owned him.
When the horrifying video surfaced, authorities started to investigate and found the couple. Charges are being prepared against them.
As for Tintin, they are now taking care of him well and screening through dozens of applicants. They are looking for someone who can give him a good home, and the attention that he needs.
