Sick Emaciated Dog Transforms Into A Fluffy Handsome Great Pyrenees

Mooney spent a significant amount of time out on the streets. No one knew if someone dumped him or if he was born a stray.

After a while, he found himself in an animal shelter in Houston, Texas.

The poor dog was so skinny and weak. He’s almost completely bald that people could no longer identify him as a Great Pyrenees. But despite his ordeal, he remained to be a sweet boy.

Shereen, a Rescue Coordinator with TGPR-Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue, saw Mooney’s photos on Facebook and she instantly knew she had to help. She made arrangements to get the dog out of the shelter and into her care. As soon as she had him, she took him to the vet for medical care.

Mooney weighed 60 pounds at the time of his rescue, only about a third of his supposed weight. He had a fungal infection, bacterial infection, and mange all at the same time. He was contagious, so he had to be separated from other dogs.

Under Shereen’s care, Mooney received medicated baths three times a week. He also got antibiotics and antifungal pills for his skin condition. He gained some weight and his skin started to heal.

Two months later, Mooney continued to his foster home. He spent some time with Rob and his dogs and he learned so much from them. They helped him discover how fun it is to be a dog and taught him how to be comfortable around humans.

Before long, Mooney was ready to start fresh. TGPR-Texas Great Pyrenees Rescue put him up for adoption and a man named Jeff stood out among other applicants. It’s a match.

Mooney thrived in his new environment. He loved his new home and he adored his family members so much. After all his sufferings, he finally found his happy ending.
