Frankie was one of the 200 million unlucky dogs worldwide who had to live in the streets. For years, this pit bull remained nameless. Frankie’s status only grew worse when a car hit her while she was foraging for food.
The vehicle that hit Frankie failed to stop, adding insult to injury. Because of the incident, the poor dog was left unable to walk on her own and pinned to the road. Multiple drivers passed by, but they all refused to pull over, with some of them driving right over the wounded pup.
One woman who spotted Frankie stopped, but only to move her off to the shoulder. She did not call for help, leaving the sweet pup alone to die. By the time Sarah, a graduating student, drove by, multiple vehicles had already struck Frankie.
The concerned young woman picked Frankie up and carefully placed her inside the car. Meanwhile, her husband drove them to the nearest animal hospital, where Frankie was wheeled into the ER. The vet discovered that the pup’s pelvis was broken in multiple places.
It was highly likely that Sarah would be liable for the bills if she waited for the results. However, despite being a cash-strapped student, Sarah chose to stay. Days later, she picked up Frankie from the hospital and brought her to another surgeon for a second opinion. Frankie may only be another stray dog roaming in the city, but it was important for Sarah to see her completely healed.
Frankie’s operation and recovery were not easy. She could not urinate unassisted and could suffer from nerve damage, too. On top of that, Frankie also had rashes all over her body and had severe mange.
Despite that, Frankie remained brave, only yelping when she had to be moved. Because of her courage during the horrible ordeal, Sarah started to call her Frank the Tank or Frankie.
A year later, Frankie has fully recovered and has found a loving new home with a fellow canine sibling. Although exorbitant medical bills hit Sarah, she said she would do it again if she could.
