Northeast Animal Rescue received a video from a concerned citizen that needed an urgent response. It was a clip of a young puppy in one of the busiest streets of Liaoning, China. He seemed used to darting in between passing vehicles and was probably born a stray.
As soon as the group saw the footage, its lead rescuers, Fiona and Will gathered as much information as they could. They did their best to get the exact location of the puppy and once they did, they sprang into action. But when they made it to the site where the video was taken, they couldn’t find the puppy.
With so much danger surrounding the area, it was pretty easy to believe that the puppy could have been hit by a car already. He was probably dead by the time the rescuers arrived. But considering how he was used to living a risky life, the rescuers hang on to the little hope they had that the puppy was still alive.
Fiona and Will asked around and people directed them to where the puppy possibly hid. They searched everywhere. Eventually, they tracked him down inside a small alley, sitting in a pile of discarded furniture.
The rescue partners believed the old cushion served as the puppy’s home. He probably had siblings or a mama dog, they thought, but there were no other animals around. He was all on his own.
Fiona gently caressed the puppy on his head and named him Simba. She gave him time to feel comfortable around her. And later on, she gently pulled him from under the old couch and carried him to the car.
Simba had a full meal once they arrived at the Northeast Animal Rescue shelter. He also had a soothing bath right after. Although a bit confused about what happened, he loved the sudden change in his life.
It didn’t matter if he was used to living a dangerous life. He needed help so rescuers came. And because of them, Simba found a safer place to live.
