Late last April, Marcy Merritt was walking her two dogs down a forest path when she noticed a stray canine following them from a distance. The fur mom immediately got nervous about the situation, thinking that the stray would attack her two pups.
However, her nerves melted away when she realized how gentle and calm the stray was. Since she didn’t seem to be aggressive, Marcy invited the other dog to join them on their walk. The pup happily obliged and decided to walk by their side as if she belonged in their pack.
The four of them then continued their stroll through the forest until it was finally time to go home. Of course, Marcy didn’t have the heart to leave the poor pup alone in the woods, and she was determined to do what it took to bring her with them.
Surprisingly, the stray canine didn’t need any convincing as she willingly hopped into Marcy’s car at the end of the trail. The fur mom couldn’t help but laugh at the situation, especially when she realized how happy and comfortable the stray dog was in her car.
The family headed home immediately after, and it didn’t take long for the new pup to settle in. The following day, Marcy took her to a vet to check for a microchip and learned that the dog’s name was Venus. However, although she did have a family, they weren’t answering any of Marcy’s voicemails.
She waited for a week to give the family a chance to claim her, but unfortunately, they didn’t come forward. This allowed Marcy to foster her officially, but the pup didn’t stay with her for too long as Venus immediately found a loving home.
Earlier this May, the pup’s new owner fetched her from Marcy’s home, and the foster fur mom couldn’t help but feel happy for Venus’ new leash in life. Watch the dog’s story here.
