Former Stray Dog Gets Adopted By Little Girl Who Lived Two Blocks Away From His Foster Fur Dad

When Thom McCallum came across Moz in the streets of Oakland, California last year, the tiny white pit bull mix puppy was skinny and hairless. He was living as a stray since his owners abandoned him, and being deaf made it doubly hard for him to survive.

Knowing that he couldn’t leave the poor pup alone again, Thom scooped him up and brought him home to Berkley. He then set up Moz’s own space in his house, and as soon as he gave the dog his bed, he slept comfortably for over a day. When he woke up, the foster fur dad treated him to a warm bath to get rid of his flea and ticks.

He also brought him to a vet for a proper health check and scheduled him for vaccination. It took quite some time for Moz to adjust to his new life from there. But with the help of Thom’s other foster dogs, he gradually came out of his shell until he was comfortable enough to go on walks with them.

That was how Moz met his new owner, Lillian. The two-year-old girl lived two blocks away from Thom’s house, and they would typically pass by her house on their regular route. Since it was the middle of the pandemic, Lauren, Lillian’s mom, and her family would pass the time looking out the window.

The little girl was immediately fascinated with Moz the first time she saw him as he wasn’t on a leash but inside Thom’s backpack. Since then, Lillian would always insist on petting the pup whenever they walked by. It didn’t take long for her and Moz to form an adorable bond from there, and Thom began secretly hoping that the family would adopt the pup.

When he went on a work trip to New Mexico, he took it as an opportunity to let Lauren’s family bond with Moz. They dog-sit the pup for a few days, and they immediately fell in love with him. So as soon as Thom returned and Moz received his final vaccine shot, he returned to Lillian and his family to live there for good. Watch their story here.
