In late November last year, Officer Jim Tucci and his partner responded to an anonymous tip about two neglected dogs in a Niagara Falls, New York residence. The officers headed to the scene, where they found the two skinny pit bulls, Hemi and Foreign. Both of them were clearly abused and had trouble walking because of some back leg complications.
Knowing the threat to the canines’ lives, the two officers rushed them to the local non-profit charity organization, Niagara County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). The organization staff immediately tended to the pups’ health concern, but they found out that of the two dogs, Hemi’s injuries were more extreme than Foreign.
You see, not only was he dehydrated and weak, but he also had open wounds and a sore back leg. This meant that he needed more medical attention than the Niagra County SPCA could provide. So to collect some funds for his medical bills, the charity set up a GoFundMe page for the pup.
Fortunately, the page raised over $5,000 in no time at all, making Hemi’s recovery smoother than expected. However, the two pit bulls still had to stay at the organization’s facility while they recovered. Despite their rough situation, though, Hemi and Foreign had been nothing but sweet and affectionate towards the people who were caring for them.
This made Officer Jim fall in love with Hemi more. That was why when the pit bull was finally cleared to go, he decided to adopt the pup into his growing family. After all, he and his wife, Samantha, already had plans of adopting another canine to accompany their French Bulldog, Manny.
Although he has had a rough past, Hemi is now safe and sound with a family that will never abuse or abandon him ever again. Watch the pit bull meeting his new family for the first time here.
