College Student Launches Her Own Dog Treats Business, Booms During COVID-19 Crisis

The ongoing global crisis forced many people to be creative in doing side hustles to survive. Some people use different social media platforms to sell goods and products. Lynnsey Hauger is among the many people who thought of using social media to sell her dog treats products.

Lynnsey is a freshman at Berkley High School in Michigan and is fond of dogs. During her spare time, Lynnsey also bakes goodies such as cookies and cakes for personal consumption.

Like any other students, Lynnsey’s schooling also got derailed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This forced her to just stay at home and do virtual learning. The Berkley freshman likewise had so much spare time under her belt. This is why she thought of using this time to earn money.

With her baking skills, Lynnsey thought of baking dog treats since dog shops are closed. She had to do trial and error to produce the best product, so it became challenging for Lynnsey. After finding the right ingredients for her gluten-free products, Lynnsey named her store Lubirds Dog Treats. Her products cost around $5 to $12, depending on the size of the products.

But the most challenging part for Lynnsey’s selling is the marketing part.
Good thing, Lynnsey received enough support from her friends, who shared her products online. Since her friends have enough online following, people learned about Lynnsey’s products.

After posting her initial products online, Lynnsey got overwhelmed with the orders she received. Despite this, she felt proud because she is earning while she is at home. Lynnsey said that a part of the store’s earnings would proceed to an animal shelter close to her heart.

Although putting up a small business is challenging, Lynnsey has an extra motivation to do it. Lynnsey vows that she would do everything to give the best products to her customers.
